We use Undercoating In A Can in our shop. Are there any concerns spraying your product onto Chevy trucks with the wax based material the factory uses? Will it drip?
The Original Black Wax is comptabile with the hot melt dip factory wax applied to GM SUVs and Truck chassis. The Original Black Wax has good sag resistance but will drip if over applied.
Can Original Black Wax Undercoating In A Can be applied to a wood substrate?
Original Black Wax and our Clear Wax are excellent sealers for wood. Trailer manufacturers apply the wax undercoating to the entire steel and wood undercarriage of over the road trailers because it seals the wood and repels mositure. Please note that the wax should be applied to the underside of the wood, as it is not suitable to receive pedestrian traffic.

What is the shelf life of the 12oz aerosol can?
Shelf life varies depending on the environment the product is stored in.
Storage of aerosol cans should be done in an area with temperatures below 120°F (55°C), and away from heat sources. Storage of non-aerosol versions are good at minimum 2 years from date of manufacture, but typically last much longer stored in a controlled, safe environment.
Just wondering if your product can be applied on vehicles that have been previously undercoated with lanolin based products, such as Fluid Film, Protection First Class, or Wool Wax?
The annual or semi-annual undercoat products like Fluid Film, Wool Wax, NHOU, PFC, and our Undercoating In A Can Clear Fluid Coat deposit an oil film onto the underbody substrates. That oily film does not permit good adhesion with the substrate. Our Black and Clear waxes, and Rubberized, will adhere in areas where the annual undercoat has been washed away but we do not recommend coating over the annual type undercoating with anything other than another annual undercoat like our Clear Fluid Coat. An aggressive power washing that removes the annual undercoat oil film can provide a clean surface that can be coated with our wax and rubberized products.
Is undercoating suitable for new or used vehicles?
Undercoating can be applied to both new and used vehicles. The undercoating performs best when applied over surfaces that are clean, dry and free of oil and rust. Undercoating will still perform over lightly rusted areas where the corrosion is tightly adhering to the substrate. If the rust is loose or flaky, it should be removed prior to undercoating.
Will the Undercoating in a Can Black Wax be a compatible touch up coating for my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500? Are there any other products you would recommend for touching up my factory undercoating?
The Undercoating in a Can Original Black Wax is compatible with the GM Black Hot Melt Frame Wax. You should not encounter any issues spraying the Black Wax over the GM wax.
I would like to use your Clear Wax product to coat the underside of my new Tacoma. How long does it last? Will this product work for this application? Approximately how much will I need?
The Clear Wax will protect your Tacoma from corrosion and when it's applied at the recommended wet/dry film thickness, you can expect 3+ years of protection. We suggest buying a gauge with your undercoating to ensure you deposit the required thickness. Our customers typically apply 12-18 cans when undercoating a full size pickup truck.
